Coin Lesson Plan Estimation Game
Another invaluable math skill to stress with students is estimation. Practice estimation and learn about money at the same time by filling two jars with coins. One should be all pennies, and the other should contain mixed change.
Have students guess the number of coins in each jar, then its dollar value. Dump out the change and count to see who is right. Talk about how a jar with all pennies may be fuller, but can contain less money than a jar filled with quarters and dimes.

Place Value Partners
Use this as a template and adapt this game to play with money language (i.e. one partner reads out "one dollar and twenty five cents." The partner would then write $1.25, using the correct place value and decimal placement)
